We see how Rhea Ripley became the new #1 contender to RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair last week. We also see how The Judgment Day stared Belair down after the match.

Kevin Patrick is in the ring now. He gives a grand introduction to RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and out she comes swinging her hair as fans cheer her on. Back to commercial.

We go back to the ring and Patrick mentions how Rhea Ripley has changed since joining The Judgment Day. He asks Belair how she plans to defend against this version of Ripley at Money In the Bank. Belair says she stays ready so she doesn’t have to get ready. She goes on about how there has been this mutual respect between she and Ripley, which she loved, but now Ripley is soul-less since joining The Judgment Day. Belair says Ripley joining the group is all about intimidating people but she’s not the one to be intimidated. Belair goes on hyping herself up and says she walks the walk, and at Money In the Bank she will… Ripley appears on the big screen with Finn Balor and Damian Priest.

Ripley says Belair is all talk while they speak with their actions. Balor says they do what they want, when they want. They are tired of playing nice and taking orders, which is why they knocked WWE Hall of Famer Edge off his pedestal. Priest says Edge had the right idea – it was a movement for people tired of living their lives for others, and Edge painted himself as their leader but told them to do as they were told, and contradicted his own mission statement. Priest says Edge sealed his own fate, so now they are all equals in The Judgment Day.

Ripley says Belair cares what everyone thinks. She knocks the local crowd and says Belair might stand a chance at retaining her title if she’d stop listening to the fans. Ripley goes on talking trash and says she loved it when she had her teeth knocked loose last week. Ripley says at Money In the Bank, the greatest thing Belair will be is her downfall, when Ripley eradicates her from this business and then walks the walk as a two-time RAW Women’s Champion. The Judgment Day music starts up as a confused Belair clutches the title in the ring.

Interview: Rhea Ripley On Her Dream Opponent, Wrestlers She Looked Up To As A Kid
0 comments

Former WWE RAW Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley has opened up the four stars she looked up to as a youngster, naming a quartet of very, very different talents. She sat down with Gary Cassidy from InsideTheRopes.

Speaking with Inside The Ropes‘ Lead Writer Gary Cassidy for our very special 20 Questions feature in Issue 12 of Inside The Ropes Magazine, Rhea Ripley was asked about her dream match, and opened up about Beth Phoenix and how she looked up to The Glamazon as a youngster.

“Beth Phoenix. She’s so bad-ass and so different. Growing up watching wrestling, I knew that my body type didn’t fit the same mold as everyone else’s and she was sort of in the same boat as me, so it was great having someone like her to look up to as well.”

Ripley then went on to say she admired many wrestlers in her native Australia, but named Triple H, CM Punk and The Miz as her three heroes as a kid.

“Apart from the guys in Australia, I always looked up to Triple H, CM Punk and The Miz. I thougt Triple H was a badass and he was so good at what he did, whereas The Miz and CM Punk, they’re just SO good on the mic. I really loved listening to them talk – I was always captivated, and I always listened to their whole promo until the very end. I really looked up to them, I wanted to be able to do that one day.”

Thanks to Rhea Ripley for taking the time to speak with Inside The Ropes. You can pick up Issue 12 of Inside The Ropes featuring 20 Questions with Rhea Ripley here!

Raw Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley def. Asuka and Charlotte Flair in a Triple Threat Match

The Nightmare survived both Asuka and Charlotte Flair in a star-studded Triple Threat Match to retain her title at WrestleMania Backlash.

Charlotte, who was added to this match by assistant to Adam Pearce Sonya Deville, immediately looked to stir the pot between Asuka and Ripley and pit them in a war against each other. Neither Ripley nor Asuka took the bait, though, and Flair found herself facing off with both opponents, including a fiery showdown with Ripley.

Looking to retake her throne, The Queen used her veteran ring savvy to command the ring. But her trash talk may have backfired in the way of increased aggression from Asuka, who blasted Charlotte and Rhea with a bevy of strikes.

Charlotte later took down both foes with a moonsault to the outside before they answered with a double superplex to The Queen.

The action was dizzyingly fast from there with all competitors trading blows. But with Charlotte knocked outside the ring, Ripley took advantage by blindsiding Asuka with the Riptide, pinning The Empress of Tomorrow for the hard-fought win, and all Flair could do was stare daggers through The Nightmare and her coveted championship.
